Habit Forming

Experts concur that most habits can be established in 10-12 weeks of adherences. So, if your doctor says, "You need to drink more water to help your kidneys do their thing," a conscious effort will establish that new healthy habits in about 3 months.

The CMS program, under which Healthrageous operates, approves meals for about3 months. More for Duals; less for general MA members. In that time, a Senior can succeed at downplaying the role of salt in his/her diet. It may be tough initially, but the heart and kidneys will be grateful for the modification.

We at Healthrageous recognize that 12 weeks doesn't make a year. Hence, we've invested in building out messaging on our SMS platform to consistently nudge our enlisted Seniors for 365 days a year. In other words, our mission is to teach Seniors "how to fish" as opposed to building consumer brand loyalty (providing the fish).

The Nobel Prize in Economics was awarded to Daniel Kahenman for his breathtaking work on changing behavior and breaking bad habits. What he and other behavioral scientists discovered may seem obvious. To gain long term change, inevitably, we must buy into the outcome we are seeking. It's about the end goal, not the means. Vast amounts of research all arrive at this same conclusion, we humans are not rational, economic pragmatists seeking education by following instructions or simply following bread crumbs. We are emotional creatures seeking to fulfill our passions and desires. It's about what intrinsically motivates us.

Why does the healthcare industry, with no shortage of graduate degrees and book smarts, take an education-only approach to behavior change? When we "educate" adults about salt or alcohol or tobacco, they generally ignore our counsel and advice. Why? Because it's about being in control of our own destiny, in the moment.

Healthrageous understands and harnesses the power of intrinsic motivation for lasting behavioral change. That's why rather than simply supplying meals, we couple our meal solutions with helpful nudges that appeal to our Seniors' intrinsic motivations. After all, it's better to learn how to eat healthy so you can enjoy life without minimal disease, than it is to occasionally eat a healthy meal. Our Seniors prefer to live a fill life surrounded by loved ones.

Go to MadeEasyMeals.com and begin your journey towards better nutrition. We make decision making around meals easy for the Seniors in your plan. And our white label feature gives your plan all the credit, in your members' eyes.
